Yemen's hunger is not new, and that is most of the problem. After years of war the emergency became the ordinary condition, and the coverage moved on. The prices did not.

Orders are gathered through the month and cooked in one run at the end of it, then handed to orphans, displaced families, the elderly and single mothers. Cooking locally in a single batch does two things: the money stays inside the Yemeni economy rather than paying for freight, and buying at volume stretches it further.
